Well, Christmas is coming soon and many people are preparing to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Today we will learn about Advent.

Think of a time when you had to wait for something. Maybe it was for your birthday. Maybe it was for a special trip with your family. How did you feel during these times of waiting?

Advent means "coming". It is a time of waiting and preparing for the celebration of Jesus' birth, the first coming of Christ. We also look forward to His second coming when we get to go live with Him forever.

Every year, Christians prepare to celebrate Jesus' birth at Christmas. We can get ready by praying for Him to fill our hearts with hope, love, joy and peace.

The Advent wreath helps to remind us of the coming of Jesus.

Dear God,

Thank you for sending your Son, Jesus. As we prepare for His coming, fill our hearts with hope, love, joy and peace. Help us to tell others about the Savior of the world.
